God's not Dead....The movie, not the song

Sorry I  haven't posted any new content in a while, I have been really busy. I wanted to post this sooner, so you all would have a chance to see the movie in theaters, but it didn't work out that way.

A couple of weeks ago or so, my wife and I had a chance to go on a date night. If your are married, or thinking of getting married, take my advice, try to go on a date night with your spouse at least once a month. Sure sometimes you will not get to, but you need to make the effort at least that often. Most importantly do this after having kids. It is real easy to let having kids cause you and your spouse to neglect each other. Don't get me wrong family activities (like my favorite, family game night) are very important and build a close relationship, but guys sometimes you need to send the kids with grandma and take your wife on a date just like old times.

Anyway, on our last date night we went to the movies, and watched "God's not Dead"; let me tell you right now that with the possible exception of  "the Passion of the Christ" this is the very best movie ever made! I thoroughly enjoyed the store, and most of the acting was seamless. I say most because there were a couple of supporting actors were not the most convincing of actors, but all of the main characters were great. That minor flaw aside I give it 2 really big thumbs up.

If you have not seen any trailers or anything; The main store of the movie follows a collage freshman as he debates the existence of God with his philosophy professor. However, there are several smaller stories that parallel the main store, and eventually weave there way together with the main story. Without giving too much away I would like to point out a moment early on in the film where I almost walked out of the movie all together, but the Spirit told me to wait and see what happens. There is a Muslim family in the movie, and something the dad says made me think that the movie was going to say the we all worship the same God, however a little later in the movie we see that it most defiantly is not trying to say that at all. So if you do watch the movie, when you see that part you can rest assured that this is NOT an "all roads lead to Rome" type of thing.

God bless,
Chad

Dear Government...

Dear Government,

Please don't give me a pay cut, and call it a raise for poor people! That is what a raise in minimum wages would be. You say that you want to "help people who are trying to make ends meet" well that is great, but don't do it by hurting the middle class. If minimum wage is raised to $10.10 do you really think that businesses are just going to eat the revenue loss, and go on? If you do you have no concept of economics. The truth of the matter is the the cost of goods will go up nearly $3.00. I make more than minimum wage, now do you think that my employer is going to give me a $3.00 raise because minimum wage people got a $3.00 raise, no it ain't gonna happen! Even if it did that would mean now even more cost would have to be passed down to the consumer, so now your $0.99 burger went to $3.99 to pay for the minimum wage raise, and then to $6.99 to pay for my raise. How does this help anyone, either way it goes is bad all around. Either everybody gets a $3.00 raise and the income pay out ratio stays the same, or only the people making minimum wage get a $3.00 raise and and the folks making more than $10.10 an hour basically get a $3.00 pay cut. It is a loose loose. There is no good in raising the minimum wage, there is only perceived good, and the only ones who benifit are the politicians who have there followers fooled into ignoring the facts!

Please don't get me wrong, I think that people who make minimum wage are just a hard working and valuable as anyone else. I have worked minimum wage jobs before, and know that a lot of people look down on minimum wage earners. This has nothing to do with that, and I in no look down on anyone. Issues like this can stir strong emotions in people, but it is times like this that we owe it to ourselves as a nation to put our emotions in check, and look at the cold hard facts. Sure a $3.00 raise sounds good, but when it means paying $8.00 for a gallon of milk who is wining? Answer, no one!

Thank you, and God bless
Chad

Something new, I hope you like it!

Click on the the link below to hear a recording of me preaching. I will try to post these from time to time, but the site that I am using limits the amount you can upload on a free account. So, I will have to remove the previous one each time I upload a new one. This being the case I will try to leave them up for a couple of weeks to give people time to listen to them.

This sermon is from ECCLESIASTES chapter 11. I think all of you gardeners and homesteaders will like this one.
